Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC)
Ground Calcium Carbonate (SIMONO® GCC), also known as GCC, is produced by processing naturally occurring high purity Calcite ores, which contain CaCO3 as a major component. The manufacturing process for SIMONO® GCC begins with the selection of Calcite ore as raw materials, followed by crushing, fine grinding, and then accurate classification to produce the excellent high quality final products available in a range of sizes and grades.
Granular calcium carbonate (GCC) is distinguished by its particle size, color, and chemical purity. These are the three key characteristics that determine the quality of the GCC and its appropriateness for any particular application.
Calcite buildings and monuments have been damaged by acidic conditions, which have resulted in the destruction of Calcite structures and monuments due to acid rain. In industrial applications, the effect of an acid could be reduced to some extent by treating GCC powder with fatty acids to form a non-polar organic substance on the surface of the powder.
The main characteristics of SIMONO® GCC are their high purity, high whiteness, and brightness, large surface area, controllable particle size, high stability, and ease of application, to name a few. SIMONO® GCC are offered in a wide variety of diameters ranging from 2 millimeter to 1 micron in diameter.
