In recent years, some minerals and organics, including natural and synthetic additives, have been used to improve the heat, cracking, and deformation resistance of asphalt binders. Each of these components enhances the asphalt binder's specific properties.

SIMONO^® BTM 115/15 is a mixture of natural bitumen (Gilsonite) and refined bitumen that performs really well in high temperature environments and is being used throughout the tropics.

With adding Gilsonite, the penetration value is decreased while the softening point, ductility, and viscosity values are increased. Additionally, by modifying the asphalt binder using Gilsonite, the quality of the asphalt mixture could well be improved.

Gilsonite boosted the asphalt binder's performance at high temperatures by increasing the modified binder's shear strength. Gilsonite could be used to improve the performance of asphalt binder in places with a tropical environment.
